What a EPMS Commissioning Engineer does
An EPMS Commissioning Engineer configures and verifies the electrical power monitoring system that gives the operator real-time visibility of the power chain — from utility metering through switchgear, UPS, generators and downstream distribution. That includes point mapping, communication protocol configuration, database and historian setup, and graphics build-out against the single line diagram.
Verification work includes confirming metering accuracy, alarm thresholds and sequence-driven events against the actual electrical topology, and testing EPMS behavior during electrical commissioning scenarios — generator start, UPS transfer, utility failure — so the system correctly reflects what is physically happening in real time.
The role sits at the intersection of the electrical Cx team and the controls/BMS team, and clients increasingly ask for it as a distinct specialism rather than an extension of general BMS commissioning.
Typical range
£60–85K base (permanent) or £375–525 / day on contract
